Bayern Munich are in pole position to sign Bayer Leverkusen ace Kai Havertz, leading Chelsea in a reported pursuit of £70 million.

Acording ing to Daily Mail, Chelsea are set to face a massive blow in the pursuit of Kai Havertz. The report claims that the Blues are apparently trailing Bayern Munich in the chase to sign the Bayer Leverkusen star, who is set to cost around £70 million this summer.

Bayern Munich are confident they can sign Leroy Sane, and they are seemingly keen on lining up the Manchester City star alongside Havertz next season as new coach Hansi Flick seeks to make a major squad overhaul in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Bavarians haven’t had much luck with the loan signing of Philippe Coutinho last season. The Brazilian has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular. And with Barcelona also unwilling to keep hold of him, he now faces an uncertain future, despite no shortages of potential suitors.

Nevertheless, Bayern Munich leading the pursuit of Havertz, serves as a major setback for Chelsea, who were among the clubs also linked with a move for the Bayer Leverkusen playmaker.

Thier transfer ban was lifted prior to the January transfer window, the Blues have shown a lot of intent on the market, with Frank Lampard keen to restore the club’s glory in the near future. In fact, the west London giants have already signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax earlier this year, for a reported fee of £33 million.
