NCDC says COVID-19 not malaria as 399 die.

The NCDC said though the novel virus presents similar symptoms to malaria, it is not malaria, thereby advising the public to observe the preventive measures announced by the Centre to curb the spread of the pandemic.

Responding to Frequently Asked Questions, the Centre tweeted, “Though COVID-19 presents symptoms similar to malaria, for example fever, the diseases are caused by different organisms and differ in mode of transmission. COVID-19 is not malaria.”

Meanwhile, the Centre reported on Friday night that 627 new coronavirus infections were reported in the country, bringing the total confirmed cases to 15,181 including 399 associated deaths.
